Looking after animals is always rewarding but also I find very hard emotionally…it is not possible for me to remain emotionally detached, whilst they are by no means attached to me I am to them. There have been so many successes this summer but many tragedies too, it is the way of things that often by the time a wild animal gets rescued they are very vulnerable and fragile or very poorly…

My August tales from hillside farm which will incorporate the Bird of the month. I have been doing the bird of the month for a whole year and it has been great, but added to stories about Desmond and Walter it’s a bit too much work πŸ˜‚ added to my teaching and other activities. So they will now be combined. You can still get this one and the Gull bird of the month all completely by subscribing to studio insights also completely free no catches just a monthly newsletter and ebook, they all come to you as a pdf download via the link in my profile https://ift.tt/2OAUfYX #sheepstories #onthefarm #ebook #freeebook #free #illustratedbook #illustration #birdofthemonth #herringgull

July has been spent caring for wildlife I am currently caring for 29 birds which have come to me from @westcornwallwildlife all will be released to fulfil their wild lives as soon as they can but in the meantime if you can help our network of volunteers to rescue, feed, treat and care for the animals that come to us all it would be much appreciated. I feel blessed to have been able to help raising funds through my painting sales offering time, space and care , many others are doing the same…there is a link to their website in my profile or via my fundraising page πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€https://ift.tt/3fmqGXv πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€

A clattering of Jackdaws plus 1 magpie all juveniles… the release time for corvids is not until autumn so they will be with me for a little while yet…keeping them entertained is a challenge as they are very intelligent. So I try to change something every day to keep them on their toes, they lovely each others company though and chatter away all day πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€ @westcornwallwildlife #wildliferescue #helpwildlife #westcornwalwildliferescue #westcornwallwildliferescueandrehabvolunteers #wildliferescue #wildliferehab #cornwallwildlife #helpwildlife #helpbritishwildlife #jackdaw

#Repost @suzysharpeart β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ Also for @openstudioscornwhere is another canvas this lovely chap stands on a glass box…and is called Gnarled Wisdom. Crows are too intelligent to be kept in cages, no matter how large that cage is, I think… so I look forward also to the day that the other carrion crow (jackdaws and magpies) spending time with me can also be released I love to paint Crows all those rainbow shades of black to play with 😍 50 x 70 cm on Canvas. .. #wildliferescue #helpwildlife #crowart #crow #openstudio #openstudios #openstudioscornwall #studiostories

I definitely need to have a crow day in honour of my release for @westcornwallwildlife yesterday. I have never been interested in keeping birds in cages but find them fascinating to observe so this has been a great experience, knowing that whilst they are caged for their own care ultimately they will live a free life on their own terms. However observing corvids has to be done covertly as they hate to be looked at so I have done plenty of hiding behind sheets and doors so that I could properly check their behaviour and health πŸ¦…πŸ–€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ–€πŸ¦… This is my crow ebook with lots more crow information on my website

This is the group I am volunteering and raising funds for #Repost @westcornwallwildlife β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ WE NEED YOUR HELP: Fundraising – Vet fund Please can you tag a friend who maybe able to help, Vet gofundme donations have nearly been used up now! We have had so many trips to vets and whilst many Vets will treat wildlife for free we do still have to pay costs. We are all volunteers and do not receive any memberships or funding except from your donations. Virtually everyday we receive a message about injured wildlife and they always need to see a vet before we can even begin to nurse and rehabilitate them, we always recommend that people take the casualty to the nearest vet and offer us for nursing and rehabilitation. Just today our amazing Volunteer Wildlife Vet Felicity spent hours checking over gulls, corvids and house martins, sadly had to undertake a postmortem and will be performing a minor operation under general anaesthetic tpday she is on hand to advise us at anytime and could not be more generous with her time…but we still have to pay for medication. We have had Badger Cubs release blood and Tb testing costs which is expensive; as well as all the other veterinary procedures, medications etc to cover, we feel so lucky to have this service to help our wildlife casualties and we really want to be able to continue this service which is so essential to our work. It is our future aim to have a dedicated wildlife hospital but that will take a while so in the meantime if you can help in anyway by donating to the fund or sharing our posts please do. if everyone in Cornwall gave just Β£1 that hospital would be more than a pipe dream. https://ift.tt/2YWXJtN
